Reading at the House of Tarot

Although it is called the House of Tarot, we are open to a variety of divination arts! We welcome energy readers, bones and stones, pendulum work, oracle decks, and many other traditions.

House of Tarot runs concurrently with A Victorian Séance Experience. We do a set number of pre-sold séance shows per night. Attendees are encouraged to browse the vendors and readers at House of Tarot before or after their sitting. House of Tarot is also open for the general public to wander through at leisure. Invite your friends!

If you would like to vend wares in addition to reading, please also apply for a Vendor spot:

Location:

Mabry-Hazen House; House of Tarot is a 40’x60’ walled pole tent in the middle of the lawn. Our parking lot is located at 1690 Rosedale Ave, Knoxville 37915 (use Google Maps to find the listing)

Provided:

  • 30" round white plastic table, serviceable but very 90s public pool. We recommend bringing a tablecloth.

  • 2-3 white plastic chairs, same era as the tables.

  • The tent will have ambient light from two large chandeliers, but we will be aiming most of that light towards the vendor section of the tent to create a dimmer private experience over in the tarot section.

Bring:

  • 2 containers: one for tickets and one for tips.

  • Business cards if you want your clients to be able to find you later for more in-depth work.

  • Decorate your space however you'd like! There won't be any power points available, so candles/battery-powered/solar lights are recommended for direct light on your table.

  • Dress as you please (some readers go all-out with costumes), but it might be a bit chilly despite the walls cutting the wind.

Readings:

  • These are $10 tickets for short/basic readings designed to give the general public a feel for the divination arts. If you have them, bring business cards so prospective clients can find you again for in-depth work!

  • Use your discretion as to the length of your reading time for each person, but readers average about 15 minutes for a three-card read. If you’re doing energy readings we leave it up to you to decide the level of reading you want to do based on the cost.

Payment:

  • Readers get a cash cut of every ticket they collect at a 60/40 split ($4/ticket goes back to you).

  • You are welcome to donate your proceeds to our historic preservation mission as a tax-deductible donation.

    • If you go the tax deduction route, you will also earn volunteer hours with our foundation. Earning 8 volunteer hours over the weekend will get you a free Victorian Séance Experience t-shirt!
